When established in 1999, the Greater Des Moines Partnership introduced a new concept in effective economic development. An umbrella organization was created by merging metro area economic development activity and investment with the goals of greater efficiency and accountability. The Partnership was one of the first organizations in the country to adopt this type of structure.
